Born in Utrecht The Netherlands, Paul came to New Zealand at the age of seven .Over the past 10 years he has traveled back to his country of birth many times, and after spending time with his new found family, he now feels a real Dutch connection. This is reflected in his music from the album 'In Amsterdam'. Paul has been writing songs since his early teens and recorded his first album in the early 70's. He is currently working on his 7th album of original songs with Ross McDermott from Audio Suite. In 1980 he won the prestigious New Zealand APRA Silver Scroll Award with 'You’ve got me loving you' and another composition, 'Nineteen Seventy Three' reached the finals. Paul is also a Senior lecturer in Addiction Studies and combines his music talents with teaching. In 2009 he completed his album 'Sobertown': a collection of 'therapy' songs that have been used in various treatment centres throughout New Zealand. His career is now strongly focused on Music Therapy and it's use in addiction recovery. He has presented at many conferences both nationally and internationally including New York and Rome. He currently lives on the Kapiti Coast near Wellington, New Zealand and enjoys writing new songs , creating albums, and playing his music to a live audience. |
